Engaging Bus Shelters
Interaction design elements for London's Bus Shelters commissioned by Richard Rogers Partnership (with J Pletts).
This project proposes a waiting environment that is engaging: shelters with personalities that remind us of the poetics of travel.
The interactive elements each take the form of a plug-in modular system which will be integrated into each bus shelter. These modules respond to four primary needs:
- reducing apparent waiting times by actively engaging travellers in creative or information-based interactions
- "personalising" the waiting space through systems that respond to travellers' actions and requirements
- providing specific start-to-finish wayfinding information clearly and concisely
- ensuring security for both travellers and the hardware systems
